Kathmandu:<\/strong> Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising has resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Sushila Karki earlier on Monday, following which the Prime Minister formally bid him farewell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ghising had been entrusted with multiple responsibilities, including the ministries of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formerly the Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Ghising entered politics after becoming a minister. During his tenure, he registered the Ujyaalo Nepal Party<\/em> under his own leadership. On Poush 14, he reached an agreement with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) to merge, taking up the position of vice-chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His political involvement while serving as a minister in a non-partisan government had drawn criticism from various quarters. Questions were raised on social media and at the public level regarding ministers\u2019 engagement in party politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
